Thanks for your interest in Children's Mercy!

Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview

Children’s Mercy’s Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking an additional maternal fetal medicine physician to join the current four (4) member MFM team. The MFM department provides clinical services at three hospitals in the Kansas City metro area including Children’s Mercy Hospital, University Health – Truman Medical Center, and Advent Health – Shawnee Mission hospital.

This position is unique in that the successful candidate will have the ability to work with the MFM team to define this position based on physician preferences and institutional needs, including the opportunity to work at 3 distinct locations with varying responsibilities. In addition, both Children’s Mercy and University Health – Truman Medical Center are teaching hospitals and medical students, OB/Gyn residents and/or MFM fellows participate in most clinical services.

Children’s Mercy Fetal Health Center is a state-of-the-art prenatal diagnosis facility, one of only a handful of fetal centers located in a children’s hospital – and the first in the Midwest. Our group provides general MFM services for the region as well as an array of fetal interventional services. Clinical services are specifically focused on a comprehensive, integrated medical model for managing pregnancies complicated by complex fetal malformations.

University Health – Truman Medical Center is an academic medical center providing quality healthcare to the Kansas City community and beyond (including Kansas City’s underserved population) and is also one of only two American College of Surgeons Verified Level 1 Trauma Centers in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, University Health delivers nearly half of all babies born in Kansas City each year.

Advent Health – Shawnee Mission in Kansas City serves more than 70,000 patients in its emergency departments annually, has the area's first accredited Chest Pain Emergency Center and delivers more babies each year than any other hospital in the metropolitan area. Nearly 5,000 mothers a year choose the Advent Health Birth Center. The Birth Center is Johnson County’s (KS) leader in the care of women, babies, and families.

Successful candidates will have completed an MFM fellowship, obtain and/or maintain board certification in MFM, and be eligible for licensure in Missouri and Kansas. Salary and benefits are competitive. Academic appointments are conferred through the University of Missouri/Kansas City School of Medicine and will be commensurate with experience.

In addition, candidates must share our unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and respect for inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
