Overview

Pediatric Psychology Position

 

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a pediatric psychologist to join our faculty.  This will be primarily an outpatient position, accepting referrals from several medical subspecialties within our hospital system.  The psychologist will provide consultation, assessment, and behavioral health interventions related to coping/adjustment, adherence, anxiety, and other behavioral health concerns impacting care and quality of life, primarily for youth with chronic health conditions.

 

This position includes teaching and supervising in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs, including our APA-accredited psychology internship, and includes protected academic time for program development, research, and other scholarly activities.  The specific percentage of time dedicated to research, program development, and teaching/supervision will be established based on the candidate’s interests and goals. The position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.

 

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, or clinical child psychology
  • Completed an APA-approved internship
  • Experience working in pediatric settings
  • Eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy is growing and expanding programs as part of the institution’s Mental and Behavioral Health Strategic Plan.  We offer a dynamic and collegial work environment that includes 47 psychologists, 9 developmental pediatricians, 7 child and adolescent psychiatrists, master’s and doctoral level board certified behavior analysts, and other allied health professionals who work together to provide outstanding mental and behavioral health care to youth in our region and beyond.  Psychologists in the Section of Pediatric Psychology work closely with medical subspecialties to meet the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents with acute or chronic health conditions, and many enjoy leadership roles across the hospital.  This position includes a competitive salary and benefits package.
