Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.
Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a pediatric nephrologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join their diverse and highly productive team. The Division includes a large outpatient clinical service with specialty clinics in hypertension, bone and mineral disorders, and genetic disorders. We also have a nationally recognized end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) program with the availability of home hemodialysis, one of the lowest dialysis infection rates and one of the nation’s best graft survival rates. A busy acute kidney injury program and a collaborative transition program with med/peds nephrology participation are additional noteworthy clinical components of the Division.
Our team of providers includes 11 Nephrology faculty with appointments at either the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine or the University of Kansas School of Medicine, 3 dietitians, 2 social workers, a psychologist, 6 transplant coordinators, 7 nurse practitioners, 6 research coordinators, a child life specialist and nursing personnel in clinic and dialysis with 100% effort dedicated to Nephrology.
We have an ACGME-accredited fellowship program with a variety of clinical and research opportunities. We are actively engaged in quality improvement, as well as in basic, translational and clinical research in the areas of chronic kidney disease/ESKD, acute kidney injury, bone and mineral disorders, nephrotic syndrome, and genetics, supported by a nephrology laboratory located in the Children’s Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) and both internal and external (industry, NIH) funding. Our faculty serve as leaders and/or active participants in many highly productive collaboratives including CKiD, SCOPE, NAPRTCS, IPPN, CureGN, IROC, NEPTUNE, and PNRC.
We have been ranked as one of the 10 best Pediatric Nephrology programs by US News and World Report over the past 14 consecutive years. And for those interested in football, you might have heard about our Kansas City Chiefs.
