Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview

The Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) is seeking general pediatricians to join its faculty. These positions are predominantly oriented toward outpatient clinical service at the CMKC-Vibrant Health Cordell Meeks Jr. Clinic in Kansas City, Kansas. The Cordell Meeks Jr. Clinic is one of five primary care clinics within the Division of General Academic Pediatrics, and it serves as a patient-centered medical home for medically and socially complex children and families from Wyandotte County, an historically underserved area of Kansas.

Vibrant Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides access to respectful, empowering, culturally sensitive and appropriate high-quality health care across three existing clinics in Wyandotte County. Children’s Mercy Kansas City and Vibrant Health entered a unique partnership to bring the strengths of both organizations together to expand services to children and families in Wyandotte County, beginning with primary care services at the Cordell Meeks Jr. Clinic.

Outpatient clinical duties include well child/EPSDT visits, same day illness visits, and management of chronic medical conditions common to the general pediatric setting. A routine weekly schedule typically consists of eight (8) half-day clinics, with two half-days for educational and administrative activities. These pediatricians will provide clinical teaching to students and residents on outpatient rotations. Successful candidates will possess strong clinical and interpersonal skills, be board-certified in general pediatrics, and qualify for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Visa sponsorship may be possible for qualified physicians.

The Division is the clinical home for specialized programs including our Title X program within Teen Primary Care; Weight Management Program (in conjunction with the Center for Children’s Healthy Lifestyles & Nutrition); the Beacon Program (for children with medical complexity), ADHD Clinic, and Down Syndrome Clinic. These programs provide additional opportunities for novel research and quality improvement projects.
