Overview

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting a psychologist with expertise in autism, developmental disabilities and associated mental health conditions to join the Autism Clinic embedded within the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health. The primary focus of this position will be delivery of autism/developmental diagnostic evaluations, with the option to provide additional clinical services based on candidates’ expertise and interests (e.g., delivery of evidence-based intervention). The positions also include opportunities to engage in a variety of other professional activities, including clinical training/education through the hospital’s APA-accredited psychology internship, psychology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowships, pediatric clerkship and residency programs, and psychology practicums.

Interested candidates will also be invited to contribute to community educational and outreach efforts, as well as research and program development activities focused on autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities. The positions carry academic appointments at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants for the autism psychologist position must have:

  • A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or a related field (e.g., school psychology)
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship with child/adolescent care as a major area of study
  • Relevant experience in the evidence-based diagnostic evaluation of autism/developmental disabilities in youth (e.g., ADOS, interdisciplinary diagnostic experience, telehealth assessment)
  • Eligibility for licensure in both Missouri and Kansas

Additional strengths in evidence-based intervention are desirable but not required (e.g., parent training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, executive functioning interventions, social/communication supports). The successful applicant must share our unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, collegiality, antiracism, and respect for inclusion of individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Candidates at all levels of experience will be considered. The positions include a competitive salary and benefits package. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy offers a collegial and supportive work environment with an excellent quality of life.
