Overview

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy is recruiting a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric care in our new 18,000 square foot medical office building in Wichita, KS that will be opening in spring of 2026.  Referrals to the Developmental and Behavioral Health Clinic will come from other Children’s Mercy Wichita medical specialty clinics and from the community.

Common referral concerns will include ADHD, developmental and intellectual differences, depression, anxiety, and disruptive behavior. Medical subspecialists currently onsite at our existing Wichita clinic include endocrinology, cardiology, and nephrology, and we will be expanding to include allergy, neurology, rheumatology, psychiatry, psychology, and pulmonology. Currently, over 30 specialty clinics reach Wichita via telemedicine. The patient population served in Wichita is diverse, as it draws from a large region in south-central Kansas. The psychiatrist will provide outpatient care, including psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits.

This position is dedicated to providing care in the ambulatory setting, and psychiatric care will be provided both in person and on a telehealth platform. Psychiatrists will be an integral part of the health care team and will have the opportunity to work alongside pediatric medical colleagues. There is no weekend call. Limited weekday after hours phone coverage of psychiatric outpatients of this practice will be expected.

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health consists of 10 psychiatrists at present who are all based in our hospital and clinics in the Kansas City area.  Psychologists and Developmental Pediatricians are also valued members of the Division.
